Provincial Darts Tournament 29th April 2016

The Winning Seaford Circle Team with the Trophy

Mike Newman reports:

Brighton Regency 17 Circle hosted the 2016 Provincial Darts Tournament at Patcham on Friday 29th April.

The line up include a team from the new 'Adur Valley' Group as well as Hastings Circle, who had the longest journey of any participants.

The Crawley team consisted of Mike and Margaret Georgeson, Lucy Forster and Mike Newman. Our two reserves, President Peter Mullarky and Iris Jordan were commandeered to join Provincial President Nigel Corby and his wife Jill to form a join Crawley/Arundel team, 'The Hopefuls'.

Each team played seven time limited matches. Teams started on 301 points and had to finish on a double. Three points were awarded if a team managed to get out before the whistle signalled the end of the match. Two points were awarded to the first team in a match to reach a stage when they could get out on a double. One point was awarded to the losing team or to both teams if neither had qualified for the two points.

A superb Fish & Chip supper arrived half way through the evening, while our thirsts were quenched by the diligent service of Paul Lowry and his dedicated bar team.

The competition was won by the Seaford team. Although our Crawley teams did not challenge for the top spot, all our players had their moments of skilful, (or possibly lucky), shots and we all improved our game over the evening. The most impressive shot of the night that I  witnessed was Lucy Forster successfully imbedding her second dart into the tail of her first dart, 'Robin Hood' style!

Well done to all at Brighton Regency 17 for a superb Catenian evening.
